Dear PhD students and Postdocs of D-MATL,
We would like to invite you to the second D-MATL “PhD and Postdoc Retreat” organized by SAM! This event aims at improving the team spirit in our department and will take place on three days in June 2018 (Thursday-Saturday, see dates below). We are pleased to announce that our department is supporting this retreat not just financially but also by recognizing it as working days; therefore, you will not have to take vacation. Additionally, the department is going to take care of most of the costs for the retreat: accommodation at a Youth Hostel and most of the meals (including a BBQ). We will do various activities such as board games, chilling and swimming in the beautiful lake Maggiore. This year we are also proud to announce a workshop on “Presentation skills” with a professional coach from ETH.
You will have to organize the journey to Locarno yourself (train, car, …). As last year there will be the option to go together as a group, however, the tickets are not provided by SAM.
When: June 28th to 30th
Where: Youth Hostel Locarno (https://www.youthhostel.ch/de/hostels/locarno/)
What: BBQ, swimming, hiking, workshop, and much more!
How (to get there): Further information on the available and suggested trains/transportation time etc. will follow.
Feel free to give your input on what other activities you have in mind – after all this is a retreat for all of us and we would highly appreciate all suggestions for activity and active participation from your side! Also, if you want to get involved in the organization, do not hesitate to contact us!
Due to budgeting reasons, spots are limited to 40 and will be given away on a first come, first served basis. So be quick to fill out the doodle: https://doodle.com/poll/xyru55f5nzdt33pd
Registration closes on March, 23.
If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact us.
Looking forward to seeing many of you joining us in Locarno.
Cheers,
Your SAM Team
